DCFS Child Abuse Hotline, LAHelpU Call Center Return to Normal Operations

Service has been restored to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services child abuse reporting hotline and LAHelpU Customer Service Center, following repairs to service providers in Texas that had been knocked offline by Hurricane Beryl.
Alternate Child Abuse Hotline Number Established

A temporary alternate child abuse hotline number has been set up for Louisiana callers who are unsuccessful in their attempt to report abuse and/or neglect, until technical issues preventing AT&T phones from being able to reach the regular toll-free number are resolved.
SUN Bucks Going Out This Week to Phase 1 Recipients

The first phase of SUN Bucks benefits will be issued this week to approximately 300,000 children, ages 5-18, who received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during the 2023-2024 school year.

More than 130,000 Louisiana families who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) and Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP) benefits will see those benefits decrease in January due to receiving a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase to their Social Security and veterans benefits for 2024.
