My Community Cares (MCC)

What is My Community Cares?
My Community Cares (MCC) is a neighborhood-driven, community-focused initiative, designed to strengthen families and support communities. The ultimate goal is to ensure that every neighborhood in Louisiana has access to the services and supports they need to be healthy and safe. These services and supports are provided with equity to promote child and family well-being and prevent children from entering the foster care system. MCC transforms child welfare by empowering individuals and communities to access prevention strategies that reflect their unique needs. With MCC's neighborhood-driven approach, Louisiana is taking a bold step towards safer, healthier, and more vibrant communities for its children and families.

Who’s involved?
You, your family, and your neighbors play the most essential roles in helping children and families in our communities thrive. Families in need are connected with individuals who have lived experience in child welfare systems, community members, judges, child advocates, attorneys, service providers, schools, businesses, emergency responders, healthcare providers, churches, DCFS, and non-profit agencies.

How do I get involved?

  • Get in touch with your local MCC to find out how you can partner to help communities
  • Attend community meetings and encourage others to do the same
  • Share your community needs, goals, and any supportive services or organizations
  • Complete the My Community Cares Partner Form.

How do I encourage community participation?

Actions as small as checking on your neighbors, helping with childcare, helping defray expenses for summer camp, picking a child up from school, cooking a meal, helping someone call 211 for assistance or offering them a ride to work can have meaningful impacts in promoting the well-being of children in each household.
