DCFS Receives Waiver to Allow Hot Foods Purchased with SNAP or DSNAP Cards in Seven Tornado-Impacted Parishes

2.17.17 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services requested and received approval of a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service to allow the purchase of hot foods with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps) or Disaster SNAP benefits in seven tornado-impacted parishes through March 31, 2017. The affected area approved for DSNAP assistance is generally located south of Dwyer Road and Michoud Bayou, east of Wilson Avenue, north of Almonaster Avenue, and ?west of Gentilly Road. An impact map is attached and can be found at and staff will be stationed at the DSNAP site entrance daily to verify addresses.
