New Worker Orientation for New DCFS Employees – The Road To Success

This course entitled “The Road to Success” is expected to provide new employees with the Department’s expectations and the knowledge and skills needed to integrate successfully into the workplace. This training is designed to provide an overview of the organizational structure, vision, values, mission, strategic plan, principles of practice and a brief summary of the agency programs. Also, it is designed to enhance the worker’s soft practice skills (conduct and attitude related to behaviors). Emphasis is given to planning, time management, and setting priorities. Another strong focus of the training is discussion of the importance of change management and cultural diversity. Additionally, employees will be given training expectations for their job area. An overview of CAFÉ’ and Document Imaging, is provided. Additionally, technical information regarding MOODLE, LEO, DCFS Intranet, Outlook and Travel Expense procedures are included in this training. There are three areas that greatly determine success on the job: 1) technical aspects, 2) abilities and 3) soft skills. Because the soft skills are so important, significant time during this training will be spent on those areas. Participants who master the content of this training will be better prepared to function effectively on the job.
