Understanding trauma and utilizing a trauma-informed perspective is vital to effective work with children in the child welfare system. This conference features nationally and internationally recognized experts in social work, mental health and medical disciplines to create a unique learning opportunity for professionals, foster parents and students.
This conference will provide information to assist participants in gaining knowledge in the following areas: understanding the impact of trauma across the lifespan, acquiring skills for assessing trauma in child welfare clients, identifying and understanding trauma-related challenges in multiple domains of functioning, understanding the importance of trauma-informed treatment, acquiring practical skills to foster resiliency in children impacted by trauma, utilizing a trauma-informed perspective in making case decisions and formulating treatment recommendations and gaining an understanding of the impact of secondary trauma and acquire strategies for prevention and treatment.
