Governor Edwards, DCFS Announce Federal Approval of Second Month of Disaster Food Assistance for 11 Most Heavily Impacted Parishes 10.10.16 - Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services have announced the approval of a second month of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits for households in 11 parishes that received D-SNAP or supplemental SNAP benefits after the August flooding. DCFS Issues Nearly $80 Million in Disaster Food Assistance in 21 Parishes 09.13.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) issued nearly $80 million in disaster food assistance in 21 parishes impacted by flooding -- with more than $48.9 million in Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits and more than $30.9 million in disaster-related benefits to regular SNAP households.
St. Tammany Parish has Additional ZIP Code Approved for DSNAP 09.08.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval today from the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for an additional ZIP code in St. Tammany Parish that was impacted by recent floods to be added to the third phase of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP). Beginning tomorrow, residents living in the immediate vicinity of the Tchefuncte River in St. Tammany ZIP code 70433 may also apply for DSNAP. Additional Evangeline Parish ZIP Code Approved for DSNAP 09.07.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval today from the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for an additional ZIP code in Evangeline Parish that was impacted by recent floods to be added to the third phase of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP). Beginning today, residents living in Evangeline Parish ZIP code 70589 may also apply for DSNAP.
Almost 110,000 Households Receive DSNAP Benefits in First Two Weeks of Application Period 09.05.16 – The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) issued $43.9 million in Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits to 109,610 households in the first two weeks of operations. Additional Washington Parish ZIP Code Approved for DSNAP 09.04.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval today for the southwestern tip of Washington Parish ZIP code 70427 to be added to the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) operations that begin Tuesday, September 6.
Two Additional Parishes Approved for DSNAP Week Three 09.02.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval for two additional parishes, St. James Parish (ZIP codes 70052, 70071, 70723, 70743, and 70763) and West Baton Rouge Parish, to be added to the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) operations that begin on Tuesday, September 6. Sites Announced for Week Three of DSNAP 09.02.16 -The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) announced locations where residents in Evangeline Parish (ZIP codes 70515, 70524, 70535, 70554, 70576, and 70586), Iberville Parish, Jefferson Davis Parish, St. Martin Parish, St. Tammany Parish (western parts of ZIP codes 70435 and 70437), Washington Parish (ZIP codes 70431, 70438, and 70450), and West Feliciana Parish can finalize applications for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits.
Tomorrow and Saturday are Final days for DSNAP, Week 2 Applicants 09.01.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is reminding residents in Acadia, Ascension, East Baton Rouge and Lafayette parishes who were impacted by recent floods that time is running out to visit a Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) site. Tangipahoa SNAP Recipients Approved for Automatic Disaster-Related Benefits 08.25.16 - The federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has approved Tangipahoa Parish Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients for automatic disaster-related benefits. SNAP recipients residing in Tangipahoa parish will not need to complete signed affidavits in order to receive disaster benefits. These benefits will be automatically loaded onto the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards no later than August 26th. Sites Announced for Phase Two of DSNAP 08.25.16 -The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) announced where residents in Acadia, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, and Lafayette parishes can finalize applications for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits.
