For People Who Receive SNAP

Replacement SNAP

SNAP Recipients impacted by Hurricane Laura may be eligible for Replacement SNAP Benefits. 

• If at least 50% of a parish reports power outages of 24 hours or more, DCFS can request mass SNAP benefit replacements for residents. This will prevent their having to complete paperwork.
• Residents of parishes that don't meet the 50% standard will have the opportunity to apply for replacement benefits if it is deemed necessary.

COVID-19 Supplemental SNAP Allotments

The allotments for September 2020 will bring families to the max for their household size. The supplement is scheduled to be available on September 18.

Regular SNAP - Early Allotment

All Louisiana SNAP Recipients received September benefits on Tuesday, September 1.

Hot Food Waiver

Recipients of SNAP and DSNAP can use their benefits to purchase "hot" or prepared foods, following a waiver approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP)

DSNAP provides eligible low-to-moderate income households who do not normally receive SNAP benefits with help buying groceries due to lost income or damages following a disaster.
