Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP)

DSNAP logo

Louisiana is not authorized to operate DSNAP at this time.
  • If you have not pre-registered, please do so now by clicking the "pre-registration" button below.
  • Pre-registration gives you a head start on your phone application and interview if a DSNAP is ordered for your parish.

  • Updating your DSNAP information is an important part of preparing your family for hurricane season.
  • Review and update your information (including contact and household information). If you have forgotten your password, you will be able to request a password reset on the CAFÉ login page.
  • Ensuring your information is updated in the system will help ensure you receive important updates about applying if a disaster occurs and DSNAP is approved for your area.

DCFS now has a DSNAP benefit estimator.
  • If DSNAP is activated in your parish, you can use the benefit estimator below to receive information about the possible benefits you may receive.
  • NOTE: These benefit estimators are estimations only and are not a guarantee to receive benefits. You must submit an application for the specified program in order to have your eligibility determined. Households must meet certain tests, including resource and income tests in order to be eligible for program benefits.

As you prepare for hurricane season or other disasters, make pre-registering for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) part of your plan.

DSNAP provides eligible low- to moderate-income households who do not normally receive SNAP benefits with help buying groceries due to lost income or damages following a disaster.

Benefit Expiration

When do my benefits expire?

You have 9 months to use your federal benefits (including SNAP, P-EBT, DSNAP, etc.) Benefits not used after 9 months will be removed from your EBT card. Use your card. Each purchase resets the timer to 9 months.

I received a letter saying my benefits will be removed. What does this mean?

The letter is meant to inform you that it has been 8 months since you last used your EBT card, and your benefits will be removed in 1 month. If you make a purchase with your card, the timer will be reset. If you don’t, any remaining benefits may be lost. However, your card and your case are still active and any future benefits will be added to your card with the same 9-month time limit. For more information about benefit removal, visit
