Director of Communications


Catherine Soileau Heitman has more than 25 years of experience in strategic communication, community and media relations and issues management. Starting as an aide to U. S. Senator John Breaux, Heitman's career has taken her from Capitol Hill to the highest levels of state government communications, where she helped develop and implement public awareness and engagement campaigns around some of Louisiana's most pressing issues.

Through her work with the Louisiana Recovery Authority, Louisiana Department of Education, University of Louisiana System and Office of Youth Development, Heitman led communication efforts in hurricane recovery, K-12 education, higher education and juvenile justice reform.

As an independent consultant, Heitman worked with clients including the University of Louisiana System, Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, Louisiana Public Facilities Authority, Louisiana Board of Regents and UL Monroe.

She is also an experienced voiceover artist who has served as underwriting voice for Baton Rouge's NPR affiliate, WRKF-FM and has voiced projects for clients, such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Louisiana Farm Bureau and others
